Self-motivation is a skill that is helpful in personal and professional development. It drives you to do things. Sometimes you have felt, that you need to complete any task but you are not motivated and excited about it.


It becomes a challenge for you because we are not motivated every time. We can fix it because it is common in every individual. I encourage you to try these ways to motivate yourself.

 In this article, I am going to share my experienced tips and tricks which help me to motivate myself. Let’s discuss this in detail.


Don’t wait just Start

You should not wait for the right moments or waste time and resources deciding when or where to work. Researchers state that it will slow down our work progress. If you are serious about your goals you must follow a strict schedule. Otherwise, after time passes you will regret it.

Be Consistent

Consistency is crucial for success. You have to do work every day and give it proper time.

It is more important to become consistent rather than motivated. Because consistency is long-term while motivation is a temporary phenomenon.



Avoid Procrastination

We all have dealt with procrastination at some point in our life. It means intentionally delaying tasks assigned to us. By procrastinating we put the burden of work on ourselves. This creates a bad impact on our goals and achievements.

Take Responsibility for Your Actions

By taking responsibility for your actions, you know that there is a specific role you have to perform. To know about your potential you need to continuously improve yourself.


We always try to blame someone else responsible for our mistakes which in itself is a problem. John C. Maxwell says that “People who blame others for their failure never overcome them”. It takes away motivation from you.


Self-Acceptance

It means embracing all the positive and negative attributes of yourself completely. By practicing it you are giving yourself a sense of value and not giving it to someone else. You take charge of how you behave or respond accordingly to a situation instead of blaming.


Stop expecting Perfection

The desire of being perfect and flawless leads us to demotivation or unhappiness. It's unrealistic and almost an impossible phenomenon. Humans are not expected or designed to be perfect so remember that you are just a human.


To achieve perfection we lead procrastination and stress and anxiety. Here are some ways to stop expecting perfection from yourself.


  • Allow yourself to do mistakes

  • Don’t try to be a Super-human

  • Focus on Positives

  • Work on Negatives

  • Learn to accept criticism

  • Don’t compare yourself with others


Reward Yourself and Practise Gratitude


Gratitude has different connotations for person to person. Generally, through gratitude, you are appreciating and valuing what you have in life. It relieves stress from you and you feel motivated to achieve more.

It is scientifically proven that practicing gratitude results in the increased production of 

Dopamine handles pleasure and reward-motivated behavior. Another neurotransmitter is Serotonin which accounts for better social behavior.

All the suggested methods mentioned are tried and tested. Yet, continuously performing them in your life will bring positive changes. and help you to stay motivated. Take them seriously and the results will fulfill your need of being motivated.

Intrinsic motivation comes from within and doesn’t need any outer world source. Extrinsic motivation depends upon some outer source it does not come from within. So, Intrinsic motivation is the most effective motivation. Because it does not depend on anything.
